The 1st Step Level is the “Achilles Level”
The Achilles Level is the first acknowledged step in advancement, and recognition in progress. This is because as students move forward in the program from Hades Phase, they come to understand they have made progress, but also recognizing they still have critical issues (arrows) that are weaknesses that can hinder them as triggers if they are not aware of them. Students come to recognize that they have become strong, but realize that they still have weaknesses that require attention so it does not become their downfall, similarly to what happened with Achilles. This is the Level where weaknesses become strengths. In this Level, each student will show a desire to follow rules and expectations academically, therapeutically, and behaviorally in order to retain this Level advancement from the Hades Phase. Students must continue to consistently illustrate progress in order to competently demonstrate acquired skills that should be displayed naturally as second nature principles obtained from positive repetition. In this Level students learn of the symbolic Arrows (struggles, issues, problems) that have afflicted them, just as the crucial Arrow that afflicted Achilles and became his downfall. In this Level, they also learn coping, therapeutic, and healing methods to overcome their Arrows.
Our Program For Troubled Teens
What Are Programs for Troubled Teens?
Programs for troubled teens are different academic and youth treatment options that help teens with minor and major emotional and behavioral problems. These treatment options range from private boarding schools to adolescent boot camps and rehabilitation centers. They can be home-school options or charter high schools that allow students flexibility with classroom time and course work. They are also in-patient residential treatment centers and preparatory academies. The variety of options that are available for struggling adolescents helps ensure that each child has options that will work for them and their specific needs. Each adolescent struggles from different troubles in life and will not all benefit from the same type of help.
How Troubled Teens Programs Can Help Youth?
Different programs for troubled teens help adolescents in different ways. They each offer unique benefits that help adolescents with specific needs. Rehabilitation centers focus on substance abuse and addiction and give adolescents a safe place to start the process of recovery. For adolescents with learning difficulties, ADD/ADHD, or Autism, there are therapeutic boarding schools and residential treatment centers that can board students during the academic year while helping them learn to cope with the different symptoms they experience, as well as provide professional care and support. Boot camps use aggressive physical and mental training to teach disobedient and disrespectful kids how to follow rules and have respect for themselves and others. Not every option works for every struggling teenager. It is important to make sure that each child receives the right kind of help for his or her specific needs.
What Disadvantages of Programs for Troubled Teens Should I Be Aware Of?
The disadvantages of programs for troubled teens vary as much as the unique benefits each provide. Many treatment options advertise that they help with specific adolescent issues, but do not provide the most effective kind of care. This could be detrimental for kids with serious concerns that are not getting the help they need. Many boot camps claim to help adolescents with substance abuse and addiction, but do little besides keeping them away from illegal drugs while in attendance. Many kids that attend boot camp often revert to the same poor behavior after they leave. Another problem with programs for troubled teens is that they may help with a symptom of a condition, but do not treat the underlying issues that cause particular symptoms. Not treating the underlying issues can be devastating to adolescent treatment.
Children who are under stress, who experience loss, or who have attentional, learning, behavioral, or anxiety disorders are at a higher risk for depression. –Wikipedia
