The 3rd Level is the “Zeus Level.”
The Zeus Level is a reminder that each student has been trusted through each Level they have earned and accomplished thus far. At this Level, the student has earned the right to prepare themselves for the last Step of internalization, and get ready to go home. This is a transitional Level which allows them to show their family, parents, friends, and most importantly…themselves that they are capable of ruling their personal world, and to manifest this capability in their ongoing progress while continuing to turn their weaknesses into strengths. This is the ultimate point in demonstrating self governing skills in all they do at this point in the program. Because we believe firmly that “repetition is the law of learning,” this Level allows each teen at this point to reach true internalization, through positive leadership tasks they have, such as mentoring other students, being a family leader within their group, and maintaining the rules and expectations that are expected of them at this high Level in the program. As they consistently demonstrate these tasks, and also continue to maintain their progress in their education, behavior, and therapeutic recommendations, they exhibit the preparation in going home.
When this point is met, then they become eligible to receive a commendation from their “Treatment Team” for approval to return home. The commendation comes from a unanimous vote from each Treatment Team member. This is to ensure there are no major residual issues that may still be present. The Treatment Team is comprised of; the Program Director, Clinical Director, Head School Master, Staff Supervisor, and the student’s Parent(s) to ensure repetition for internalizing skill on a therapeutic, educational, and behavioral basis has reached a proficient & masterful Level.

Troubled Teens – Warning Signs
When an adolescent is struggling with some kind of emotional or behavioral problem, there are signs to watch for:
- Poor grades
- Mood swings and temper
- Loss of interest in hobbies
- Excessive sleeping
- Lying or being secretive
- Change in appearance, attitude, or friends
These issues are beyond the typical issues that adolescents face and can be detrimental to the well-being of any child experiencing these symptoms. If an adolescent displays any of these signs of struggle, a medical or mental health professional should be consulted with immediately. Warning signs can be the difference between personal growth/recovery and destruction.
Schools for Troubled Teens
Schools for troubled teens are academic programs that help students get back on a constructive, positive path. They can serve as a preventative measure against negative behavior or as an intervention to help curb destructive attitudes and behavior. Some of these schools are simple self-paced programs and others are strict and structured private boarding programs. Private boarding academies give adolescents a place to live while receiving help for whatever issues they are struggling with. Self-paced, flexible programs offer little in terms of help for adolescents that are struggling with behavioral or emotional concerns. It is true that they do give kids flexibility to take care of other responsibilities, but if a child needs real help, self-paced schools are a poor option. Private boarding schools do little more than self-paced ones. They do offer much more structure and discipline, but most do not accept adolescents that show signs of significant challenges.
Alternative Troubled Teens Programs
Other alternative troubled teens programs include:
- Boot camp
- Wilderness adventure camp
- Online counseling, and
All of these troubled teens programs have some benefits that help difficult youth. Boot camps are short-term behavior modification programs that can work well for young adolescents who have simple behavioral problems like: lack of respect, disobedience, and selfishness. Wilderness adventure camps work similarly and are also short-term programs. The problem with these and other alternative programs is that they do not offer the quality of care that many adolescents need to help them recovery effectively. Adolescents with depression receive no benefits for short-term programs that offer no professional care and support.

It can take a lot of time and therapy to make sure that an adolescent’s treatment plan is effective and these alternative programs are poor options to help with a serious challenge like depression.
Top-Notch Troubled Teens Programs
One of the more popular schools for troubled teens is a therapeutic boarding school where adolescents have the opportunity to earn a quality education while also receiving the therapeutic care of mental health and medical professionals. Adolescents are surrounded with staff and peer support and are encouraged and motivated daily. One of the great things about therapeutic boarding schools is that students are removed from old friends and communities where it was easy for them to get into trouble. At a therapeutic boarding school, students are interacting with other students, all working toward a similar goal.
Olympus Academy is one of the best therapeutic boarding schools for troubled teens that are available today.
